A battery-supercapacitor hybrid systemscombinetheadvantagesofhighenergybatteryelectrodes and highpowercapacitors. LiBASEDconsortiumisaimingatthedevelopmentofthenew and efficientLi-ion battery-supercapacitor hybrid (LIH) devicewithhighpower and energydensitysimultaneously, alongwithgoodcyclability. Theprojectproposes a novel hybrid deviceconfigurationbased on different3Dnanostructuredcarbonbasedcathodes and electrospuntitanate-based free-standing (anode) electrodes. By usingthisconfiguration, the LIH deviceisexpectedhavinghighenergydensity (>20 Wh/kg) and powerdensity (>5 KW/kg) with a specificcapacityretention >92%over 10,000 cycles. Afterwards, theconsortiumwill design and fabricate mini-hybrid device (prototype) withmentionedoutputs. Theassembled LIH devicescanbeapplied in long-run, lightweight and cost-effectiveunmanned air/groundvehicles (UAVs, UGVs) whichwilllead positive effect on bothenvironmental and economicissues.
