Scientists at the Centre of Polymer Systems use a new piece of equipment for air filtration research.

The Nanomaterials and Advanced Technologies Group at the Centre of Polymer Systems of TBU in Zlín has got a new unit for research in the field of air filtration. More specifically, it involves AFT 3160 – automatic filter testing equipment from TSI, a U.S. based company – which allows the measurement of pressure drop and fractional efficiency of capturing monodisperse particles of various sizes (15 to 800 nm) for diverse filter media.
“Materials used to produce face masks, respirators and air conditioners in hospitals, surgery rooms, laboratories, clean rooms and other places where low concentrations of fine particles, bacteria and viruses in the air are required can be measured in this way,” says researcher Dušan Kimmer.
The project entitled Strengthening the instrumental infrastructure of the Centre of Polymer Systems of Tomas Bata University in Zlín for accelerating the development of products for air filtration for the needs of the population is co-funded by Zlín Region.
