Zlín, 18 February 2022 – How to make blood sugar measurements more accurate? Scientists from the Centre for Polymer Systems (CPS) and the Footwear Research Centre (FRC) at Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín have teamed up with researchers from the Pavel Josef Šafařík University (PJSU) in Košice to work this out since accurate blood sugar measurement is very important for adjusting the amount of insulin applied.

Researchers from the Tomas Bata University Polymer Systems Center in Zlín are taking another step towards waste-free management together with PFNonwovens, a leading global manufacturer of nonwovens based in the Czech Republic. The research and development project “Technological production scrap as an innovative material source in a process of production of nonwoven textile” (FW03010465) of the TREND program is underway from 2021 to 2024 with the support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR).

Zlín, 8 December 2021 – Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín today launched a prototype battery production line.  The line has been developed as part of the Theta Programme’s project entitled Next Generation of All-Solid-State Li-ion Batteries, which is supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TACR). What is the fate of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles, used for example in cosmetics, when they enter the human body? This is the question that a team of scientists from the Centre for Polymer Systems and the Faculty of Technology of Tomas Bata University in Zlín is trying to answer.

Zlín, 8 November 2021 – Scientists from the Zlín university are investigating how to use recyclates and construction/ quarry waste in other ways. Once sorted, plastics and beverage cartons – used for milk, juice etc. – will be possible to reuse in the future. How such materials could be re-processed is now the subject of intense efforts of scientists from the group for environmental technologies active as part of the Centre for Polymer Systems (CPS) at Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín.

Polymeric memristors are the subject of ongoing research performed by scientists at the Centre of Polymer Systems (CPS) in conjunction with colleagues from the U.S.A. as well as those from the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences (IMC). The group includes Prof. Jarmila Vilčáková cooperating with Prof. Stephen Foulger of Clemson University, U.S., who was granted a Fulbright scholarship for the 2021–2022 period.

StoRIES (Storage Research Infrastructure Eco-System), a €7 million worth H2020 project, coordinated by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Germany), will kick-off next 1st November 2021.
