Zlín, 20 September 2021 This week, on Friday, 24 September 2021, an established popular and very popular event takes place in Zlín: Researchers’ Night,   this time intertwined with TIME as the theme. This festival of science, which is traditionally held in Zlín under the auspices of Tomas Bata University, can be accessed free of charge. The University invites the visitors to its premises of the Laboratory Centre of the Faculty of Technology and the Centre of Polymer Systems, where a programme full of presentations, workshops and experiments will be available. This year, for the first time, the programme will also be extended to the chateau in Zlín.

The Nanomaterials and Advanced Technologies Group at the Centre of Polymer Systems of TBU in Zlín has got a new unit for research in the field of air filtration. More specifically, it involves AFT 3160 – automatic filter testing equipment from TSI, a U.S. based company – which allows the measurement of pressure drop and fractional efficiency of capturing monodisperse particles of various sizes (15 to 800 nm) for diverse filter media.

28 May 2021 – State exams and thesis defences are in full swing at CPS. On Friday, 28 May 2021, Maliheh Amini Moghaddam successfully defended her dissertation thesis dedicated to systems of supply of drugs for medical applications.  Ing. Petra Válková and Ing. Miroslava Dušánková have met with success, too, having passed a state doctoral exam.

Doc. Dr. Ing. Radek Stoček, a member of the Centre of Polymer Systems, participated, as an author, in a technical book recently published by Springer Nature. A new edition as part of the Advances in Polymer Science series, the book presents a collection of 20 scientific articles by renowned scientists that cover new systems and concepts for technologies testing and studying the effects on fracture behaviour and modelling of polymers.

TBU CPS with prof. Ing. Petr Sáha as a lead is coordinator of international M-ERA.NET project LiBASED together with 2 partners Polymer Institute, Slovak Academy of Sciences PISAS (dr. Mária Omastová) and Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center SUNUM (dr. Alp Yürüm). Dr. Viera Pechancová is responsible for project management.

Successful scientist Natalia E.Kazantseva was appointed the first Adjunct Professor at Tomas Bata University in Zlín by TBU Rector, Vladimír Sedlařík, on 1 October 2020. Natalia E. Kazantseva succeeded in the arduous process of professorial appointment procedure held in front of TBU Scientific Board.

“An Adjunct Professor may only be appointed by a higher education institution which has received the so-called institutional accreditation. TBU was one of the first universities in the Czech Republic to successfully fulfil the requirements for its acquisition. The position of an Adjunct Professor is intended for experts who have already gained a similar position abroad or who have many years’ practical experience. In case of Natalia E. Kazantseva, these requirements have been fulfilled without question, and I am greatly delighted that such a world-class scientist works at Tomas Bata University,” said Vladimír Sedlařík, TBU Rector.

Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) was admitted as a new member of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA).

On 17 April 2020, TBU was admitted as a new member of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) consortium under the Energy Storage joint program based on online voting.
