PhD Student from Poland Works in the Centre of Polymer Systems on Study of Bacterial Cellulose

Julia Rogowska-Tylman from the Polish Academy of Sciences came to Zlín within a scientific mission organized with funding provided by the NEWGEN – MP 1301 COST ACTION programme. Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Nabanita Saha, she participates in the development of bacterial cellulose for medical applications. “I am very happy to have been given an opportunity to come to Zlín and work in laboratories using state-of-the-art equipment, it is a memorable experience for me and a big plus for my studies,” says Julia.

Delegation from China Visited the CPS

On Friday, 18 August 2017, the Centre of Polymer Systems in Zlín was visited by a delegation from East China University of Science and Technology. After a tour of the Centre and of the laboratories, Prof. Petr Sáha, Rector of TBU in Zlín, and Prof. Dr. He Tian signed a memorandum of understanding on mutual collaboration between the two institutions.

Marek Jurča Received the Rector’s Award

Ing. Marek Jurča received the Rector’s Award for his outstanding academic performance and for excellent representation of TBU abroad, namely at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA. His Master’s thesis entitled “The Development and Characterization of Epoxy-Silicone Blends as a Matrix for Antistatic Composites” was written in cooperation with the Centre of Polymer Systems under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Jarmila Vilčáková, Ph.D. Our congratulations to him!

Professor Qi Wang of Sichuan University Visited the Centre of Polymer Systems

The Centre of Polymer Systems in Zlín was visited by Prof. Qi Wang of Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, Director of one of the biggest research centres in China focusing on polymers, which is comparable with the CPS. During her two-day visit, she looked around the building of the Centre and the laboratories, and discussed the possibilities for a long-term cooperation in future with Prof. Petr Sáha and Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík.

Young Researchers Successfully Presented Results of Work of the TBU Centre of Polymer Systems

Ing. Lucie Nogolová and Ing. Martina Hrabalíková, Ph.D. won major awards in Torun, Poland. They presented results achieved by the research team “Preparation of Bioactive Polymer Systems”.  Lucie Nogolová received an award for the best lecture in the section of young researchers. Martina Hrabalíková participated on behalf of the CPS in the poster section entered by almost 80 contestants. She was given an award for the best presentation. Our congratulations to both young and promising researchers!

Centre of Polymer Systems Participated in Development of Special Fitness Accessory

CRUSHER or a special fitness accessory – Our sincere congratulations to Marek Žmolík and Honza Doležel! They finished runners-up among 31 submitted projects in the startup contest entitled “Tmobile rozjezdy” and advanced to the national round, to be held in Prague on 15 June. The Centre of Polymer Systems of TBU in Zlín has also participated in development of this product. Crusher is a specially developed accessory to be used in fitness centres and gyms.

Awarded 1st Prize in POSTER contest organised by COST Action MP 1301 NEWGEN and with the support of the JECS

Mr. Probal Basu, 1st year doctoral student (working under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Nabanita Saha and consultant: Prof. Petr Saha) awarded 1st Prize in POSTER presentation contest in the Training School on "Non Living Materials meet living Biology" organised in the frame work of COST Action MP 1301 NEWGEN and with the support of the JECS held in Patras, Greece, 9-12 May 2017. The title of his presentation is "Calcium Phosphate filled Bacterial Cellulose Based Hydrogel scaffolds:A Novel Approach for Bone Tissue Engineering". Former Managing Director of Bata Company Visited Research Centre

Mr. Gerard Janssen, a former Managing Director of the Bata company, visited the Centre of Polymer Systems at TBU in Zlín together with Mr. Rory W. Fuerst, owner of the KEEN company. At present, Mr. Janssen works as a consultant for the KEEN company. Besides the Centre of Polymer Systems, he also visited the Bata villa, Shoe Museum, skyscraper and other sights situated in Zlín and related to Tomas Bata.
